A first-person Star Wars Mandalorian game is in the early stages of development at Respawn Entertainment, according to an Insider Gaming report.
The report claims that this game will incorporate high mobility as part of its core gameplay, playing to the strengths of Respawn who have perfected fast movement in their games like Apex Legends and Titanfall 1&2. The Mandalorian jetpacks in this game will canonically make it possible and will enable players to perform “horizontal dashing, vertical jumping, boost sliding, and more.”
This Star Wars game is reportedly set in the heydays of the Galactic Empire, and players will be donning the role of a Mandalorian bounty hunter. As part of your kit, you will have a sizable array of weapons and gadgets including “a wrist rocket, grapple hook, a visor for tagging enemies and bounties.” Your job primarily will be to catch your bounty targets, either dead or alive, for in-game cash rewards.
This Star Wars Mandalorian game is reportedly the same one that Respawn’s ex-Creative Director Mohammad Alavi was helming before he departed from the studio in 2022. This VentureBeat report at that time talked about a secretive AAA single-player game in the works at Respawn with “mobility” and “style” as guiding principles.
As for other Star Wars games in development, we have Ubisoft Massive’s Star Wars Outlaws that’s slated for release later this year. Apart from that, there are several other high-profile projects in the works including Quantic Dream’s Star Wars Eclipse, Aspyr’s The Knights of the Old Republic remake, Amy Hennig-led Skydance Media’s Star Wars game rumored to be set in the Rebel Alliance era.
