Creative Assembly, the studio behind the popular Total War series came out and made 2 big announcements – reducing the game price to $39.99 USD / €39.99 EUR / £29.99 with a partial refund to all who bought the game at a higher price, and making one of the planned paid DLCs into a free update to be released in early 2024.

The game had released in October this year, and is currently among the lower ranked in the overall series as seen on Metacritic. The developers also made it clear that “we want to make it clear that we are not closing the door on other, more ambitious updates to the game in the future”. This looks to be a pretty sincere attempt to listen and respect gamer and community feedback, and work upon it – with both refunds and a free DLC being substantial steps taken by Creative Assembly.

In addition to the above on Total War : Pharaoh, the studio also covered Total War : Warhammer III in the message, and promised a major update on the DLC Shadows Of Change in Feb 24 which would be free for everyone. The impact of the work to be one of this DLC will lead to the next planned DLC Thrones of Decay being postponed from winter of 2023 to April 2024. The studio mentioned “We also have more work to do on Thrones of Decay to make sure that we don’t repeat our past mistakes, and to give you the amount of content that you rightly expect from us at these price points. Once we’ve launched our free update to Shadows of Change, we’ll talk more about what this next DLC will offer and how it will add to your experiences of WARHAMMER III.”
