So you open up the map in Soulmask and see almost the entire map covered in fog; and you would think that as you keep moving along the unexplored section, the fog will keep clearing – but that does not happen. In this guide we explain the right way to clear the fog of war from the map in Soulmask
How To Clear Fog Of War From The Map In Soulmask
The Fog Of War in Soulmask can only be cleared by deterring Barbarian Scouts. The locations for these Barbarian Scouts are marked on the map and are visible even if they may currently be in an area covered with fog. The earliest and most accessible ones as you start the game are the Barbarian Scouts located in Western Rainforest and Northern Rainforest.
How To Deter Barbarian Scouts In Soulmask
In order to deter Barbarian Scouts and clear the fog of war from the map in Soulmask, lower their health till you see a prompt asking you to ‘Press E to Deter’ (this will happen once you have depleted the health to 30% of the max health) once you are in melee range. Once that is done, you will see a short cutscene where you absorb all the knowledge that the Scout possessed, and in turn reveal all the areas and secrets that were initially behind the fog.
Important : Do not kill the scout completely – this will keep the fog as it is and you will have to wait for the Barbarian Scout to respawn – which can be anywhere upto 15 minutes.
You can also choose to bring along a Tribesman to make the task of depleting the Barbarian Scout’s health (and finishing off a bush dog that accompanies the Barbarian Scout) easier. But just ensure that you have set his mode to ‘Assist’ and not ‘Active’ – else your Tribesman may just do his job more efficiently than needed and kill the Barbarian Scout!
