In a surprising turn of events, Microsoft confirmed today that NBA 2K24 is joining Xbox Game Pass. The popular basketball simulation game wasn’t included in the first wave of March additions announced last week.

However, with today’s surprise addition, you can now download and play it on consoles and through cloud gaming as part of your Game Pass subscription.

This adds to an already impressive lineup of games that arrived on Game Pass earlier this month, including Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun and Paw Patrol World. Looking ahead, subscribers can gear up for SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated on March 12th, followed by Control Ultimate Edition on the 13th and No More Heroes 3 on the 14th. March 19th brings Lightyear Frontier (an early access game) and MLB The Show 24.

As for games leaving the service before March 15th, the list comprises Hardspace: Shipbreaker, Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered, and Shredders.

In other Xbox news, Microsoft is exploring the possibility of offering a cheaper tier of Game Pass with advertisements to access their streaming library.
