Marcus Lehto, the game director at Ridgeline Games, has left EA. Seattle-based Ridgeline Games are in charge of developing the narrative single-player campaign of the next Battlefield game, and Halo co-creator Lehto was at the helm of the studio until his departure today.

This was first spotted by Battlefield YouTuber DannyOnPC on Twitter where he posted a screenshot of Marcus Lehto’s Facebook update announcing his departure from EA. Soon after, Lehto also deleted mentions of EA from his Twitter bio.

Although we don’t yet know any official info about the release window of the next Battlefield game, we knew Ridgeline Games would play a key part in developing it. Especially after Battlefield 2042’s shaky launch and continued mismanagement, many veterans of the series were looking forward to the next title to get the beloved FPS series out of a rut. And Halo co-creator Lehto was a big part of that hope.

With the next Battlefield game being at least a year away from its launch, Lehto’s departure will surely concern Battlefield fans.
