It seems there is no stopping Baldur’s Gate 3’s winning streak – and we are not complaining! The first highlight was when the game won big at The Golden Joystick Awards in Nov – where it picked up 6 awards including the Ultimate Game Of The Year, Studio Of The Year and Best Storytelling. This was followed in December at the Game Awards – it got 6 awards there including the coveted Game Of The Year, Player’s Voice Award- and also Best RPG, Best Multiplayer, as well as Best Community Support. This was then followed by its sweep
To add to this rich haul and to begin 2024 in style, just 2 days into the year and with the announcement of Steam Awards 2023 – Baldur’s Gate, to the surprise of absolutely no one, took the big prize of GOTY 2023 and Outstanding Story-Rich Game. And if Steam would not have the rule limiting game nominations to a maximum two categories, it would probably have won more.
What sets the Steam Awards different from the rest is that the winners are decided basis votes from the gaming community votes during the Steam Winter Sale. The other nominees for the GOTY 2023 were Resident Evil 4 Remake, Hogwarts Legacy, Lethal Company and FC24. Larian Studios tweeted after receiving the award, thanking the gaming community for the win
Among the other winners at the Steam Awards include
- Hogwarts Legacy – Best Game On Steam Deck
- Lethal Company – Better With Friends
- Atomic Heart – Outstanding Visual Style
- Starfield – Most Innovative Gameplay
- Sifu – Best Game You Suck At
- The Last Of Us Part 1 – Best Soundtrack
- Dave The Diver – Sit Back & Relax
