Lies of P, in addition to challenging boss fights and some great combat, also shares another characteristic typical of Soulslike games–NPCs with their own intricate quest lines which require a series of steps to be followed to close them properly. These are especially important as they give you collectibles like gestures and gramophone records which are required for 100% completion, and in a few cases, there are trophies related to the quests.
Among these, there is a complicated questline for Sophia whom you meet in Hotel Krat. This guide takes you through the right set of steps required to unlock the trophy/achievement for ‘The Story of the Blue Butterfly’ in Lies of P.
How to Unlock ‘The Story of the Blue Butterfly’ trophy/achievement in Lies of P
Since this is a missable trophy, ensure that you follow the below steps mindfully to unlock The Story Of The Blue Butterfly In Lies Of P:
- Lie at every possible opportunity in all side quests and interactions. Collect and listen to gramophone records. It’s important to have your humanity at a very high level before the next step. You can check our guide here to understand everything about Humanity in Lies Of P, including how to increase it.
- After defeating Laxasia the Complete, speak to Sophia. It is a good idea to back up your savefile before you speak to Sophia. In case you are struggling against this very challenging boss, you can refer to the guide here on how to defeat her.
- Run through her dialogs and choose the option ‘Giver Her Peace’.
- A cutscene will play which shows your hair turning grey. If that happens, you are on the right track. If it does not, it means that your humanity is not high enough. In this case, load back your savefile and complete side quests to increase your humanity.
- Defeat Simon Manus.
- When Geppetto asks for your heart, select the ‘Refuse’ option.
- Defeat the Nameless Puppet.
- Do not start an NG+ run when prompted onscreen.
- Return to Geppetto’s desk in Hotel Krat where you will find a letter.
- Read the letter. This will unlock the trophy/achievement, ‘The Story of the Blue Butterfly’.
Does Sophia Feature in the Original Pinocchio?
In the original The Adventures Of Pinocchio, we have a character called ‘Fairy with Turquoise Hair’ who appears throughout the story in key moments to keep Pinocchio on the right track. She also plays an important part in Pinocchio’s transformation from a puppet to a human, much like what Sophia does throughout P’s journey in Lies Of P. It is one of those instances where the game developers have smartly taken a reference from the original story and given their own take on it.
