Should you kill Arlecchino, the King of Riddles, in Lies of P? Arlecchino is an NPC that you speak to at various points in the game through a phone to answer his riddles.
If you solve all the riddles and the corresponding Trinity Keys, you can unlock a specific door in one of the late-game areas to finally meet him face-to-face. After exhausting his dialog, you get an option to attack and kill Arlecchino. However, due to Lies of P being a typical Soulslike, the question that would naturally come to your mind is– will it impact any other questline? We have got the answer for you here.
Should You Kill Arlecchino, the King of Riddles in Lies of P?
Yes, you should kill Arlecchino. He is a pretty mean guy (puppet), but only if you have finished his dialogs and obtained a Moon World Warrior Toy at the end of it. If you have not, it means that the Story of the Prince achievement, which you get at the end of a related NPC questline for Venigni, is missing a step.
You can first refer to our guide on how to close Venigni’s Story, and once that is done, you can go ahead and deal with Arlechhino any way you choose. You will get an Alchemist’s Cape, 1000 Ergo, and a Quartz after the entire interaction is over. If you kill him, you will get a Radiant Ergo in addition as a confirmed drop.
Arlecchino’s Backstory in Lies of P
Arlecchino was a puppet before his Ergo awakened and so did his hatred for humans. He learned of the Arche Abbey, the secret island where the alchemists performed various experiments on puppets, and decided to go there and annihilate all the alchemists. He ran across Lorenzini Venigni’s family and killed them sparing the young Venigni as proof that he can now make a choice and hence, is human.
Later on, he was captured by the alchemists and was imprisoned in one of the cells in Arche Abbey. When Simon Manus started absorbing all the Ergo, he was able to take a part of it. He used it to call various phones across Krat and ask them riddles. Hence, he became known or rather started addressing himself as Arlecchino, the King of Riddles.
When you, as P, answer his phones and manage to find him and have a conversation about Venigni, he becomes quite happy knowing that sparing him made him suffer so much, even going on to say that this was one of his ‘favorite murders’.
Arlecchino Pluto References
There is an uncanny similarity in how Arlecchino is tied up to a wall the first time you come across him to how Brau-1589 is also tied up in the famous manga Pluto, which was recently adapted into a very well-received series on Netflix as well. In Pluto, Brau-1589 too is a robot who becomes sentient and commits murder, quite similar to Arlecchino.
Hopefully, this provides enough perspective to you whether you want to kill Arlecchino in Lies of P or spare him. You can check out our guide for the NPC Cecile.
