The short answer is, perhaps in 2024.

In a post put up on X (formerly Twitter); Activision Blizzard mentioned that “While we do not have plans to put Modern Warfare or Diablo 4 into Game Pass this year, once the deal closes, we expect to start working with Xbox to bring our titles to more players around the world. And we anticipate that we would begin adding games into Game Pass sometime in the course of next year.”

Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard has been a long winded affair; and has had to pass through multiple regulatory hurdles across US, UK and the European Union before finally being realized. When first announced in 2022; the $ 69 billion acquisition, which would give Xbox a massive fillip through game franchises like Call Of Duty, Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch, had industry – wide ramifications. Sony went to court, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the UK Competition & Markets Authority (CMA) filed complaints on the acquisition; the end result being that Microsoft committed to ensure that Call Of Duty was kept on the PS platform and on other cloud gaming platforms till 2033. Basis these concessions, it looks like the deal will come through in October.
