Outer Worlds 2, the sequel to the extremely entertaining and successful Outer Worlds, is being guided by Tim Cain, who is working on the game as a consultant – as revealed first by Rock, Paper, Shotgun. Tim Cain is the man who worked alongside Leonard Boyarsky long back at Interplay Entertainment, to create the legendary and beloved franchise that is the Fallout series – big enough to now have it’s own TV series being created by the creative minds behind Westworld.

He was one of the co-directors behind the first Outer Worlds before he left Obsidian Entertainment. In the clip, he says ”  “There’s stuff they’re trying to do in the sequel (that of course I can’t talk about) that I get pulled in on because it’s similar to stuff I’ve done in the past.” He then goes on to add “Sometimes it’s just me saying, ‘I’m not gonna tell you what to do, but here are the pitfalls. Here are some of the huge, huge chasms that lie in your way, that you’re gonna have to wend around.”

This is great news if you ask me, the original game ticked a lot of boxes that fans of Fallout would want in a space-western RPG setting (something which Obsidian Entertainment would know a thing or two about, having designed Fallout – New Vegas, still remembered for being one of the most memorable entries in the Fallout franchise). And if the same person who guided them through these games is checking upon and guiding the team, all the more to look forward to for Outer Worlds 2.

The game was first revealed during the Bethesda Games Showcase 2021, in typical tongue-in-cheek humour that the game has become known for.
